Sprinkler winterization in Middletown and Rumson: Coastal Mist Irrigation winterizes residential and estate irrigation systems across Middletown Township and Rumson every fall. We bring a commercial high-volume compressor, cycle every zone two to three times, drain the backflow preventer, and shut the controller down for winter. Call or text 609-548-5187 to book.
Irrigation systems on the northern Monmouth peninsula are bigger than the ones we see farther south. Lots are larger, plantings are more elaborate, and a single property often has lawn rotors, shrub sprays, and drip running off the same controller. More zones and more pipe mean more water to push out, and a rushed single pass will not do it.
Middletown covers a lot of ground and a lot of soil types. Lincroft, Oak Hill, and Chapel Hill sit on heavier inland soil with slopes, where water collects at the bottom of each run. Belford, Port Monmouth, and Leonardo along the Bayshore are flat, sandy, and exposed to wind off Sandy Hook Bay. Navesink and Locust have long driveways and wooded estate lots with zones a long way from the water source. Each of those needs a slightly different approach, and all of them need multiple cycles.
Rumson sits between the Navesink and Shrewsbury rivers. Properties are large, landscaping is mature, and many systems have fifteen or more zones, often with more than one controller. Riverfront lots are low and exposed. We plan extra time for these and work zone by zone until the heads throw nothing but mist.
More detail is on our winterization and blow-out service page.
The window runs from about October 15 to November 15. Inland sections of Middletown cool off first and should go earlier. Riverfront and Bayshore properties have a little more time, but their backflow preventers sit in the wind, so there is no reason to wait. County-wide dates are in our Monmouth County winterization guide.
Standard residential systems run $85 to $150: about $85 to $110 for 4 to 5 zones, $110 to $135 for 6 to 8 zones, and $135 to $165 for 9 to 12 zones. Estate systems with more than 12 zones or more than one controller are quoted individually after we know the layout. See the winterization cost guide. For properties that want startup, a mid-season check, and winterization handled as one arrangement, see our annual service plans.
My landscaper offers to blow out the system. Is that the same thing?
It depends on the equipment and the license. Irrigation work in New Jersey requires a state irrigation contractor license. Ask what compressor is being used and how many times each zone is cycled.
We have a pond pump or fountain on the same line. Can you handle that?
Tell us when you book. Anything tied into the irrigation supply needs to be isolated or drained as part of the visit.
Do you repair what you find?
Yes. See irrigation and sprinkler repair in Rumson and sprinkler repair in Middletown and Wall Township.
We provide year-round irrigation service in Middletown and Rumson, and winterize systems in Holmdel, Colts Neck, and Wall Township. See the Monmouth County hub for every town we cover.
